For almost a decade the Foster Closet has been in its current space donated by Hillcrest Church. The needs of children experiencing foster care are outgrowing our the current space of 4oo sq ft. Foster Hearts is looking for a larger space where we will be able to stock even more clothing and supplies for children in foster care. Our goal is as soon as they come to care, the very first day they come in to care, they have every single thing they need to go to school the very next day and be successful. The Foster Closet, provides free clothing, shoes, toiletries, school supplies and toys to children currently in the foster care system. Children are allowed to shop free of charge monthly. The care closet also offers items like beds, diapers and winter coats. It’s just to create some small sense of comfort for them at this time, to help the foster parents and caregivers so they can have those needs taken care of, so they can focus on the kids themselves during this transition. Last year the Foster Closet served over 700 children in foster care. A larger space would allow us to offer more styles and sizes for the youth and be able to store off season clothing. We would be so grateful if you share any options!
